On a trip to Williamsburg, VA we decided to try and stay off I95 since it can be so chaotic. In fact, as I write this, there is a news story on television mentioning a tractor / trailer rig that overturned on I95, spilling fuel. Traffic was backed up for 15 miles. I don't believe it was local to where we traveled, just the same I'm glad to have chosen the path taken. It only took us about 45 minutes longer to arrive at our destination. To me it was worth the extra time to avoid the traffic.
This is the first time we took route 17 east of I95, and the following are images along that route and others on the way to Williamsburg. These aren't the best quality, coming from a camera phone, but gives one the idea of the scenery to be taken in. There was no road construction encountered.

Much of 17 is open areas, but there are also many miles of "woodsy" views.

I'm glad that we took the road less traveled too. I love seeing new places with you!
